History

 Hanlon
Limited was founded in 1845 in the Dublin suburb of Howth. Founded
by brothers Paddy and Michael Hanlon, the business has had a series
of moves around Dublin before finally settling on Cork Street in the
heart of Dublin's famous Coombe area.

Limited was The growth of Hanlon Limited did not go unnoticed.
Indeed James Joyce referred to the Hanlon brothers in Ulysses,
perhaps one of the most famous Irish books to be written. The
brothers soon earned a name for themselves among the people of
Ireland, importing such delicacies as quail and pheasant from the
Continent while also supplying to the Vice Regal Lodge in the
Phoenix Park, by special appointment. |
| The company has always believed in using
traditional methods, however they have always realised that
modernisation and re-invention is an integral part of
business. Some people may have scoffed when Hanlon started
importing huge cargoes of ice from Norway before the
invention of the ice machine, in order to establish
Ireland's first cold store facility, but it soon emerged
that this was indeed the way of the future and enabled
Hanlon to supply a much higher quality of goods than its
competitors of the time. |

Limited was During the 1950s the name Hanlon was a household name
and synonymous with high quality and excellence. At this time
however the company were also making a name for themselves
throughout the world, exporting much sought after
wild
Irish salmon all over the world. |

smoked Irish salmon is just one of the fish on the
Hanlon "Menu", a huge range of exotic fish, such as red
snapper, black tilapia and parrot fish to name but a few,
are now available to the customer. |

Limited was In 1970 Mr Frank Hardy was appointed Executive Chairman
of Hanlon Ltd and since his appointment Hanlon Limited has continued
to expand its product list and customer base. Throughout its history
Hanlon has had a strong association with excellence and quality and
it is the intention of the company to continue to live to this image
in the years to come.
